An extension should be considered only after evaluating the system, termination, and the concern being addressed.
The proposed component must suit the chimney or appliance and its installation requirements.
A cap and an extension have different roles. Neither is an automatic remedy for all draft problems.
Assess the Chimney Before Changing Its Termination
Assess the Chimney Before Changing Its Termination
A flue extension changes a portion of the chimney termination. Whether that is appropriate depends on the existing chimney, appliance, construction, and reason for the change. Smoke entry or poor draft should be evaluated before selecting an extension.
Compatibility, the existing liner condition, clearances, the cap, and applicable installation requirements matter. Extending a flue does not repair damage inside the entire chimney or guarantee a solution to smoke problems.
Discuss the Proposed Work
Discuss the Proposed Work
Tell Prime Choice what changed or what problem you have noticed. Ask which part of the system would be modified, which concern the change addresses, and whether the existing chimney needs further assessment.
The estimate depends on the condition, component, and access. Confirm the proposed scope and appointment availability by phone before work.
